Boulder government is dysfunctional for its citizens

Three Big Problems

  • WE ARE BECOMING A MUCH LARGER CITY

We are making planning and development decisions with no agreement on how big of a city we want to become.

Increases in jobs have resulted in upward pressure on housing prices and transportation impacts.

These decisions have also created a much more dense and crowded space.

  • ILL CONSIDERED GROWTH BRINGS UNPLANNED ISSUES

    More traffic.

More jobs but less affordable housing.

    More crime.

    Increased transient unhoused population.

  • OUR GOVERNING MODEL MUST CHANGE

Our city council must rise to meet these problems. But it is difficult when council’s way of doing business creates an unmanageable workload on both council and city staff.

Council must set more limited sensible priorities that allow it and city staff to successfully address our community’s most pressing problems.

But nothing will change as long as the majority of council doesn’t think there even IS a problem with our governance.
